John Kocsis - Decatur

Decatur’s John Kocsis is the son of John and Catherine
Kocsis.  “Kocsis” as he is called by his wrestling coaches, Brian
Southworth and Troy Gailhouse, is the defending 140 pound
SAC champion and is a team leader for the Raiders.

Kocsis has played football and wrestled while at Decatur High
School.  What is it that has driven Kosis to excel in sports?  “I
was always the one pushed around since I was the little kid;
always smaller than everyone,” said Kocsis.  “I’ve pushed
myself to the fullest and now I’m one of the big guys,” adds
Kocsis.
John seen in action against Lawton.
As a freshman, Kocsis wrestled at 112 pounds.
After that season, he developed himself into
receiving All SAC honorable mention as a
sophomore.  As a junior, Kocsis won the SAC at
140 pounds and this season looks to advance
at state as far as he can.

In the classroom, John has a 3.5 GPA and
hopes to attend GVSU where he plans on
majoring in Athletic Training.  Kocsis would love
to stay involved in sports for a career as an
athletic trainer for a major university or a
professional team.
